Jurnal Dakwatul Islam is committed to maintaining the integrity, accuracy, transparency, and credibility of scholarly publications. Therefore, the journal implements a correction and retraction policy as part of its editorial responsibility to ensure that published articles meet publication ethics standards and remain scientifically accountable.
Corrections or retractions may be issued when errors, inaccuracies, publication ethics violations, or other issues are identified that may affect the reliability and integrity of a published article.
A correction is issued when an error is identified in a published article and requires an official amendment, but does not undermine the overall validity or reliability of the research findings and conclusions.
Errors that may require correction include:
Errors in author names, institutional affiliations, or bibliographic information.
Errors in the text, tables, figures, or captions that may cause misunderstanding.
Technical or factual inaccuracies that do not alter the main findings or conclusions of the article.
Other inaccurate information that requires amendment to maintain the clarity and accuracy of the scholarly publication.
Requests for correction may be submitted by authors, editors, reviewers, or readers who identify errors in published articles. Each request will be examined by the editorial team before a decision is made.
If a correction is approved, the journal will publish an official correction notice explaining the amended content and the reasons for the amendment. The notice will be electronically linked to the original article so that readers can transparently identify the changes made.
Retraction is an editorial action taken to indicate that a published article contains serious problems that undermine the reliability of its findings, interpretations, or publication integrity.
Retraction may be considered under the following circumstances:
Evidence of plagiarism or the use of another party's work without appropriate acknowledgment.
Fabrication or falsification of data, or manipulation of research results.
Fundamental errors that significantly affect the validity of the research findings or conclusions.
Publication without compliance with applicable research ethics requirements, where the violation seriously affects publication integrity.
Duplicate or otherwise improper publication without an appropriate basis or relevant authorization.
Other serious publication ethics violations that make the article unreliable as part of the scholarly record.
Retraction will not be issued solely because of scientific disagreement, criticism of research findings, or changes in academic perspectives. Decisions must be based on evidence and objective editorial assessment.
Any suspected error or violation that may require correction or retraction will be handled through the following procedures:
Receipt of a Report: The journal receives a report or information concerning a suspected error, inaccuracy, or publication ethics violation from an author or another party.
Initial Assessment: The editorial team evaluates the relevance of the report and determines whether further investigation is necessary.
Evidence Verification: The editor examines relevant documents, data, sources, and supporting information. Where necessary, the editor may request clarification from the authors, their affiliated institutions, or other relevant parties.
Opportunity to Respond: The author concerned will be given a reasonable opportunity to explain the issue before a decision is made, unless special circumstances require immediate action to protect readers or publication integrity.
Editorial Decision: Based on the available evidence, the editor determines the appropriate action, which may include taking no action, issuing a correction, publishing an expression of concern, or retracting the article.
Notification of the Decision: Relevant parties will be informed of the decision and its editorial rationale, subject to applicable requirements and circumstances.
In complex cases, the journal may consult independent reviewers, the authors' affiliated institutions, or publication ethics experts.
Every approved correction or retraction will be accompanied by an official notice that explains the reasons for the action clearly and proportionately.
The notice should:
Identify the article title, author names, and relevant bibliographic information.
Explain the reasons for the correction or retraction objectively and transparently.
Include the publication date of the notice.
Be electronically linked to the original article to ensure that the relationship between the article and the notice can be traced.
Preserve the traceability of the publication record and retain the information necessary to understand the article's publication history.
For retracted articles, the journal will clearly label the article's webpage and, where technically possible, the article document itself with a retraction notice. Retracted articles will generally remain in the journal's archive to preserve the scholarly record, with a clear indication of their retracted status.
When a serious issue is suspected but cannot yet be resolved because an investigation is ongoing or the available evidence is insufficient for a final decision, Jurnal Dakwatul Islam may publish an expression of concern.
The purpose of this notice is to inform readers that a potential problem is under investigation. Once the investigation is complete, the journal will determine whether further action is necessary, including issuing a correction, retracting the article, or closing the case without making changes to the article.
Authors are responsible for promptly notifying the editor if they identify significant errors or inaccuracies in their published articles. Authors are also expected to cooperate with the verification process and provide accurate and relevant information.
Editors are responsible for handling all reports fairly, independently, confidentially where appropriate, and on the basis of verifiable evidence. Decisions regarding corrections or retractions must be guided by scientific integrity and the interests of readers, rather than personal, institutional, or other competing interests.
Jurnal Dakwatul Islam is committed to maintaining an accurate, transparent, and trustworthy scholarly record. All decisions concerning corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions will be made proportionately, taking into account the available evidence, publication ethics, and the impact on the reliability of scholarly information.
Through this policy, Jurnal Dakwatul Islam seeks to promote responsible publication practices and maintain the trust of authors, readers, researchers, and the wider academic community in the research it publishes.
