Pengaruh Metode Drill and Practice Dengan Time Limit Terhadap Kelancaran Membaca Al-Qur’an Siswa Kelas IX Di MTS NU Miftahul Huda Ledug

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the effect of the drill and practice method combined with a time limit on the Qur'an reading fluency of ninth-grade students at MTs NU Miftahul Huda Ledug. The study was motivated by students' difficulties in reading the Qur'an fluently, particularly in pronouncing Arabic letters accurately and applying tajweed rules correctly. A quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The sample consisted of 25 students selected through total sampling. Data were collected through Qur'an reading tests administered before and after the treatment and analyzed using the Shapiro–Wilk normality test and paired-sample t-test. The results showed that the mean score increased from 71.44 in the pretest to 88.52 in the posttest. The normality test indicated that both datasets were normally distributed (p > 0.05), while the paired-sample t-test revealed a significant difference between pretest and posttest scores (p < 0.05). These findings demonstrate that the drill and practice method combined with a time limit effectively improves students' Qur'an reading fluency. The method can therefore be considered an alternative instructional strategy for enhancing Qur'anic literacy.
