Abstract

This study examines the implementation of the Didikan Subuh program as part of a Kuliah Kerja Nyata (Kukerta) initiative conducted in Tuah Madani Village, Tuah Madani District, by Group 15 of Kukerta IAI Diniyyah Pekanbaru under the theme Community Empowerment Based on Local Wisdom. The program was developed in response to local potential, particularly the high level of children’s enthusiasm for religious activities, which had not previously been supported by systematic and structured programs to enhance their religious capacities. Accordingly, the Didikan Subuh program was designed as a community-based religious education initiative aimed at fostering positive religious practices while reducing engagement in negative activities. This research employs a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation involving 20 participants, consisting of one neighborhood head, four Kukerta participants, and fifteen children participating in the Didikan Subuh program. The findings indicate that: (1) the management of the Didikan Subuh program in motivating local potential through the development of children’s religious character was implemented effectively across the stages of planning, implementation, and evaluation. This effectiveness was influenced by internal management practices, environmental support, and the commitment of Kukerta participants; (2) the Didikan Subuh program had a significant influence on the formation of children’s independent worship character through sequential stages of disciplinary conditioning, habituation, and the development of self-directed religious awareness; and (3) independent worship character was reflected in children’s religious practices grounded in the values of awareness, responsibility, discipline, and intrinsic motivation.
